Epoxy Floor Cleaning

Cleaning Epoxy Floors Costs 2022

Epoxy coating costs range from $3 to $7 per square foot depending on the type of epoxy used and labor costs. Water-based epoxy can cost two to three times less than 100% solid epoxy. Read on to learn more about maintaining epoxy floors.

General Maintenance

Dust mop once a week. The best way to maintain your epoxy floor is to run a soft dust mop over it once a week. This removes dirt and dust gently, which prevents scratches and protects your floor. For floors with an anti-slip aggregate coating–such as aluminum oxide–a soft bristle push broom may be more effective than a standard dust mop.

Vacuum any joints once a month. If you have visible construction joints or saw cuts, you should use a vacuum to clean these out. For best results, use your vacuum attachment hose with a crevice tool. Vacuum these joints about once per month. If you do not have a vacuum, you can try to clean any joints/cuts with a stiff bristle broom.

Clean spills immediately with a soft cloth. Oil, chemicals, or even just water left to sit for too long can damage your epoxy floors. Clean any spills as soon as you see them using a soft towel or cloth. You can use a gentle cleanser–such as Windex–if a spill is sticky or leaves a film.

Deep Cleaning

Perform a deep cleaning every three months. In addition to general cleaning, you can keep your epoxy floors in good shape by doing a deep cleaning about once every few months. In order to accomplish this, you may need to move some vehicles, tools, or other items out of your way.

Choose a cleaning solution. You have two good options to choose from: the first is a non-toxic, biodegradable cleanser (like Simple Green), and the second is ammonia. When prepared with the right amount of water, both of these cleansers are safe and effective for epoxy floors.

  • Mix 12 cup (120 ml) of Simple Green with 1 gallon (3.8 L) of hot water. If you make an over-concentrated solution, it can leave a film on your floor.
  • Mix 12 cup (120 ml) of ammonia with 1 gallon (3.8 L) of hot water.

Mop the floor with a hard foam mop. Create a bucket of cleaning solution, as well as a bucket of plain hot water. Submerge your hard foam mop into your cleaning solution, ring it out, and then move it over your floor. Rinse the floor. Fill a bucket with clean warm water. Using your hard foam mop, go back over the floor with water in order to rinse off any detergent. When you’re finished, dry the floor with a soft towel.

Stain Removal

Remove tire marks with a concrete degreaser. The best way to remove tire marks from epoxy floors is to saturate the area with a concrete degreasing product and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then use a stiff bristle nylon brush to vigorously scrub tire marks away. If they are persistent, you may need to apply the degreaser a second time. Once the tire marks have been removed, rinse the area with a bit of water and dry with a towel.

Work on tire marks right away when they’re made. They will be more difficult to remove the longer they build up.

Cautions

  • Do not use cleansers with vinegar or citrus oil in them. These abrasive substances can damage epoxy floors.

  • Avoid using soap and soapy cleansers. These can leave streaks or make your epoxy floor slippery.

  • Park a vehicle so each tire is on a piece of cardboard or carpet if it sits on epoxy floors for a prolonged period of time.

Commercial Cleaning Cost Factors

As commercial cleaning services offer help for a wide range of property types, restaurants, officers, medical facilities, retail locations, churches, schools and more – it means the average price can vary greatly for commercial cleaning services. When you consider that some customers prefer to hire professional standard cleaners for just a one-time service and others will use the cleaning service on a daily and ongoing basis, it helps explain some of the variants in cost. So, let’s take a look at some of the factors that can impact commercial cleaning costs:

  • Commercial Cleaning Rates per Square Foot
  • One-Time Commercial Cleaning Rates Chart
  • How Number of Windows and Bathrooms Affect Commercial Cleaning Costs
  • Commercial Cleaning Flat Rates
  • Commercial Cleaning Hourly Rates

Average Commercial Cleaning Prices Square Foot

The average cost of commercial cleaning is $0.11 per square foot with average commercial cleaning rates ranging from $0.07-$0.15 per square foot in 2022 according to PriceItHere. Cleaning offices up to 40,000 sq ft will cost you anywhere from $04 to $.10 per sq ft. Cleaning offices up to 12,000 sq ft will cost anywhere from $.09 to $.16 per square foot.

Commercial cleaning professionals will help clean everything from offices to small storefronts less than 1,000 square feet, to larger offices and warehouses in excess of 10,000 square feet, Obviously the cost becomes higher when the space to be cleaned becomes larger. Cleaning a 10,000 square foot office obviously take greater time, a larger cleaning crew and a larger amount of cleaning supplies than the cleaning of a smaller office.

One-Time Commercial Cleaning Cost Chart

Thumbtack says you can expect to pay anywhere from $118 to $463 for a one time cleaning.

  • 0–1000 square feet: $118
  • 1000–2000 square feet: $150
  • 3000–4000 square feet: $200
  • 5000–6000 square feet: $225
  • 7000-8000 square feet: $400
  • 9000–10000 square feet: $463

How Number of Windows and Bathrooms Affect Commercial Cleaning Costs

In a typical office building, bathrooms, windows, kitchens or breakrooms usually take longer to clean and disinfect than offices, hallways or waiting areas. The more windows to be washed and the more numerous the high traffic areas are to be cleaned, the more expensive the total cleaning cost will be.

Following is a hypothetical breakdown of the cost of commercial cleaning with insight into how the types of spaces being cleaned can change the overall cleaning cost:

  • Typical 1,000 square foot doctors office: $105. This includes, two kitchens or lunch areas, four bathrooms, 10 offices, a receptionist area, 10 windows, a sitting area, stair and sweep, mop and vacuum for all. Three hours work at $35 per hour.
  • Typical 10,000 square foot business office on two floors: $210. This includes an executive office, four office, four bathrooms, customer service area, lunchroom, main entrance, show room, cleaning for all floors and front windows. Six hours work at $35 per hour.
  • Typical 20,000 square foot commercial business space: $420. This includes, an executive office, lunchroom, four bathrooms, show room, customer service area, front windows, main entrance, cleaning for all floors and front windows. Twelve hours at $35 per hour.

Commercial Cleaning Flat Rates

There are some commercial cleaning companies who charge a flat rate when they clean a commercial space. Usually, they will perform a site visit to walk-through and make a determination about how many employees they will have to utilize and the expected length of the job by looking at he number of rooms, room types and square footage. They then break down the job by the hour to provide a total price to their customer.

Commercial Cleaning Hourly Rates

Cleaning rates of around $50 to $100 per hour per worker assigned to the job represent an average range of prices. Companies who charge an hourly rate may provide a free cost estimate based primarily off the amount of time it will take to clean a space. However, this estimate may vary once the job is completed as the time it can take to complete the cleaning of the same space may vary depending on what needs to be done ,therefore  affecting the price of the office cleaning.

Removing Nicotine From Plastic
Written by Desert Oasis Cleaners

Removing Nicotine From Plastic

Epoxy floors are generally easy to care for. However here are some guideline to keep them in tip-top condition. Read on to learn more.

The smell of nicotine is difficult to get rid of. Cigar smoke has at least 4,000 different chemical components, each of which will react differently with each surface it comes into contact with. Some will absorb into porous surfaces, others will produce a sticky coating, and the majority will make your house smell like a terrible nightclub and taste like an ashtray. Because of the chemical complexity of tobacco smoke, cleaning nicotine stains on different types of surfaces will necessitate a different procedure. To get rid of a nicotine odor from plastic, you can use a variety of cleaning methods.

Step 1: Mix equal parts vinegar and water to make a cleaning solution. Most soaps and detergents will not be able to remove the nicotine residue and will have no effect on the odor. A light organic solvent such as vinegar, on the other hand, will soften the sticky, yellow, smelly coat. (A stronger organic solvent, such as acetone, would have the unfavorable consequence of weakening the plastic’s surface.)

Step 2: Remove the sticky residue from the surface using a damp cloth. Rinse and dry as vigorously as possible without hurting it. Don’t be concerned about the vinegary odor, which may appear overbearing at first. It will quickly vanish. This technique will remove nicotine stains from plastic surfaces and may be sufficient to eliminate the tobacco odor as well. However, the odor of tobacco might linger for a long time. If the odor persists after the vinegar has been wiped away, it may be necessary to take more drastic measures.

Step 3: Soak the object in a solution of vodka and water. Although vodka has a well-deserved reputation for being a good overall odor-killer, rubbing alcohol can be used in its place if inexpensive vodka is unavailable. Make a 1:3 to 1:10 solution and soak it overnight for optimal results. This should remove any nicotine residue that has made its way into the material’s pores. This will most likely eliminate the tobacco odor as well, but don’t give up if it persists. To get rid of the smell of nicotine, you can take more serious measures.

Step 4: Put the object in a plastic bag and seal it. In the bag with the item, place an odor-absorbing material. Kitty litter, charcoal, baking soda, and cedar shavings are just a few of the products that will do the task. Place the bag in a dry, cool location and wait a few days.

Cleaning Hair Coloring From Your Bathroom
Written by Desert Oasis Cleaners

Cleaning Hair Coloring From Your Bathroom

It can be challenging to learn how to color your hair at home. Aside from the stress of trying to achieve the right hair color, there’s always the risk of making a mess in the bathroom. We’ve all been there: you finish an at-home hair coloring session only to discover your vanity and tub look like something out of a murder scene from your favorite crime drama. Yikes! So, how can you get hair dye stains out of the shower, tub, counters, and any other furniture that has been stained by it? We’ve listed eight simple solutions for you to try below.

SOAP FOR DISHES

If your hair color hasn’t been lingering for too long, you might be able to remove the stains with standard liquid dish soap. Apply a generous amount of soap to the stain and scrub it with a sponge. Don’t quit up too soon—this strategy may need some effort. Consider one of the following solutions if you aren’t seeing much improvement or have gotten the stain to fade but can’t get it to go away completely.

BATHROOM CLEANER

Give your standard bathroom cleaner a shot, especially if you have stains in your shower or tub. These cleaners usually contain a small amount of bleach (more on that later) and may be able to remove the stain if caught early enough. To remove the cleanser, apply it to the affected area and scrub it away with a sponge.

NAIL POLISH REMOVER

Is your bathroom cleaner not up to the task? It’s time to employ a common household item you probably already have, nail polish remover! Hair color stains may be removed off your shower, tub, and counters with acetone-based nail polish remover. Apply nail polish remover to the affected area with a cotton ball. Just remember that this isn’t a suitable solution for stains on painted or completed surfaces, since the acetone can remove those as well!

ALCOHOL RUBBING

Hair dye stains can also be removed with a little rubbing alcohol. On remove the stain, apply a small amount to a cotton ball and rub it over the discolored area. Keep in mind that when it comes to wood finishes and painted surfaces, this is another approach to avoid.

BLEACHING

Remember how we mentioned bleach-based bathroom cleaning products? Bleach, in case you didn’t know, is an excellent cleanser that can be used to remove hair color stains from your bathroom. Make a solution of equal parts bleach and water, apply it to the stain, and let it sit for 10 minutes. When you wipe the bleach away, it should also wipe away the stain.

WATER AND BAKING SODA

Baking soda is well-known for its use in baking, but it’s also wonderful for cleaning and, in this case, eliminating stains! Simply combine baking soda and a small amount of water to produce a paste. With a sponge, rub the mixture onto the stain until it vanishes. Make sure you put in some effort!

BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR

To make a baking soda paste, you can also use vinegar. Combine the two ingredients and apply on the stain. Scrub away with a sponge or an old toothbrush until the stain is gone, depending on the size of the stain. If the stain persists after rinsing, repeat the process.

HAIRSPRAY

Hairspray is used for more than just holding your hairstyle in place. It can even be used to prevent hair dye stains from staining your furnishings. Spritz the stain with hairspray and blot it away with a paper towel or rag if you catch it in time. Because hairspray is usually alcohol-based, this works.

Cleaning Concrete Floors

There are specific ways to clean concrete floors without damaging them. Read on to learn more.

Concrete is popular for both indoor and outdoor floors. It’s durable and simple to clean but concrete can stain. This is because it is porous, and will soak up dirt, requiring regular but not too oftenm scrubbing to maintain its cleanliness.
A power washer is the easiest way to clean concrete outdoors. You should be able to blast away dirt, mildew and grime in an afternoon.  Spray the patio surface with a detergent and use a stiff brush to scrub it into the concrete. Put on safety goggles and gloves. Turn on the pressure washer. Move the wand from one side, using the same motion as you would if you were mopping a floor.
Want to know how to remove stains from concrete? There are several options. You can use bleach, ammonia (Note: never mix the two) and other commercial solutions. For a natural solution to stubborn stains on interior concrete floors, mix flour and hydrogen peroxide into a paste the consistency of peanut butter. Spread it over the stained area. Let sit overnight. Then, scrape with a plastic-edged scraper tool. Trisodium phosphate (TSP) mixed with water and scrubbed onto the stained area with a nylon bristle brush can remove tough stains. Scrub till stain is gone and rinse with a hose. TSP is available at home improvement stores.
Muriatric acid can be used on outdoor floors to clean the toughest stains, like rust or dried grout. It’s a powerful, toxic material that should be used with extreme caution. Wear protective eyewear and gloves when using it and be sure to follow manufacturer instructions on how to clean concrete with muriatic acid.
For indoor concrete floors that are polished or stamped, you’ll need to take a gentler approach to how to clean concrete. You’ll just use a mop and a bucket of water mixed with a mild cleaner. Don’t use ammonia, bleach or any highly acidic substance on polished or stamped floors. Some good cleaners include Castile soap, liquid dish detergent, stone cleaners and mild floor cleaners. Mix a solution, apply to floor with a wet mop and then rinse with a mop dipped in clean water.
To make your concrete floors resistant to future stains, apply a concrete sealant. Use a paint roller to apply it to clean, primed concrete. Start in the middle of the area and roll the sealant out to the edges. Floors need to be resealed every two to three years. Knowing how to clean concrete properly will keep the floors in your garage, workshop and house looking good as new.

Commercial Carpet Cleaning Services

Commercial carpet cleaning sometimes may need special attention. Different types of equipment might be required to be used when cleaning larger areas of the carpet. This is the reason professional carpet cleaning companies offer services that are designed specifically for commercial carpet cleaning.  This assures they can provide proficient results. What are commercial carpet cleaning prices and rates?

Daily foot traffic brings dirt and allergens to your carpets collecting dust, mud, sand, bacteria, etc. It is hazardous to leave your carpets uncleaned for long periods of time. This could create an unhealthy work environment while dust and dirt settle into the carpets. This is the reason why using the services of a professional carpet cleaning company for your commercial carpets is such a great alternative. You can not only have your carpet cleaned, but it also will be done professionally and effectively. A professional carpet cleaning company can provide you with other cleaning services giving your office the opportunity to reach its cleanliest.

Commercial Carpet Cleaning Method

What is commercial carpet cleaning? First, when you request these services, experts will inspect the condition of your carpet. They examine not only the overall condition of your carpet but also the high traffic areas. This is the perfect time for you to ask them any questions you may have about their cleaning process.

How often should you clean your carpet? The carpet cleaning company representatives can schedule monthly or yearly visits depending on how often the carpet is used. For example, if you have a lot of employees, you may want monthly carpet cleaning. These companies can work around your schedule and can usually come out on weekends.

Most professional carpet cleaning companies offer to come and inspect the condition of your carpet in the days after the appointment. The purpose of this is to ensure that the cleaning services have been done correctly and that your carpet is in its best condition. If stains are still there after the initial cleaning, a second cleaning will be done with a follow-up.

Professional Carpet Cleaning

Carpet cleaning companies usually also offer you other services like green carpet cleaning or even mold removal. Most companies will combine your carpet cleaning with other services allowing you to save money in the long run.

How can you determine the price of commercial carpet cleaning? Different cleaning companies are going to have different prices. Once you get in touch with a professional carpet cleaning company, they can provide you with a free estimate. Getting multiple estimates may take a little time but could save you money in the future. However, the price range of some of the commercial carpet cleaning companies varies at around $0.20 to $0.25 per square foot. For tougher stains, there could be an extra charge between $40-$50 for the stains to be removed. Talk with your carpet cleaner about coupons or discounts as well.  If you schedule regular cleanings, they might offer you a discount.
